Design
and develop immersive computer-based training environments for
our corporate clientele. The resulting products are used to
educate sales staff, customer base or organizational membership.
Utilize source material from recognized leaders in the medical
industry to keep physicians up-to-date on new techniques. (A
recent project was certified for Continuing Medical Education
credit.) Responsible for functional/conceptual as well as visual
design and implementation on virtually all projects, including
collateral material such as descriptive copy for brochures and
manual booklets. Work to help other employees accomplish on-the-job
training and research. Frequently attend educational conferences.
Serve customers with telephone and electronic-mail technical
support. |

Creative |
| |
Strive
to meet and excel in twin goals of tasteful, aesthetic appeal
and intuitive utility. Conversant in disparate media, including
typography, vector and raster-based design and imaging, animation,
audio-editing, non-linear video composition, as well as traditional
drawing, painting and verbal expression. Able to shift gears
quickly from painting an illustration freehand using a pressure-sensitive
tablet one day to writing a creative programming solution to
detect the presence of system-level software on a user's computer
and update it if necessary. |
| |
Technical |
| |
Object-oriented
programming (OOP), animation and media-handling in Macromedia
Director and Flash. HTML and Javascript editing and design in
Macromedia Dreamweaver and Adobe GoLive. Alpha-channel, multi-layer
construction and automation in Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Fireworks
and Equilibrium Debabelizer. Audio and video capture, composition
and compression using Adobe Premiere, Apple QuickTime and Media100
Media Cleaner Pro. Beta testing of production and design software
and participation in online forums dedicated to supporting users
of such software. Because of the nature of CBT, projects often
get quite technical on their own; so this occasionally requires
deep investigation into some aspect of our client's own specialty
in order to understand a difficulty in presenting information
intuitively. Troubleshooting of, and consultation upon, multi-platform,
file conversion and networking issues internally and on client
systems. Hardware upgrade installation and configuration. |
| |
Managerial |
| |
Task scoping
and labor estimation for projects. Personal authority defined
on a project basis in this non-hierarchical environment; but
am consulted on each job for intelligent division of labor,
support of each task and will be responsible for the resulting
team effort. Establishment of media asset databases for large
projects, re-purposing creative material and client use. Research
and purchase of media rights and services. Licensor of supporting
technologies. Define hiring criteria, write text of advertisements,
place ads, conduct interviews and make decisions about hiring.
Efforts have shifted the company focus from traditional prepress
and print design jobs to new media. Consultation on technical
aspects of prepress jobs.

Present
at each initial project proposal at customer site to get a
clear vision of requirements and field any detailed questions
about design or function. Explain each beta version's function
and limitations to customer as requested. Sometimes speak
to authors and lecturers about the translation of their materials
to an interactive format. Assist in the translation of the
overall vision for each project to the task level for other
employees. Occasionally attend a roll-out of a product to
field functional questions from an audience of new users.
