So what exactly does Mike do at GMO?

Africa English Online Ministry Coordination

Mike serves 430 Online Missionaries in 49 communities as coordinator of our English Africa response branch. Volunteers from countries like Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe help to follow up with visitors from our evangelistic sites, just as Americans do. Leaders work hard to spread the word about GMO in conferences, local churches and college campuses in their countries.

Applications

Mike serves alongside 10 others in a specialized team that reviews and approves volunteer applications from the USA and all over the world. Each application contains the volunteer’s spiritual references, local church, personal testimony, current ministry involvement and their way of presenting the gospel.

Difficult Theological Questions Specialty Community

Specialty communities offer a way for Online Missionaries with special training and interests to support the rest of our ministry. We have communities which specialize in helping visitors with serious illness, long-term disabilities, homosexuality, abortion, marriage and family issues, sex and pornography issues, spiritual warfare concerns, substance abuse problems, suicide, violence against women, Hinduism, Islam and the two general “theologically difficult questions” groups that Mike and his friend Dave lead.

Online Missionary Training

Every six weeks, Mike takes 5-20 new volunteer applicants through training as Online Missionaries. During these weeks, Mike reviews their answers to our evangelistic contacts and provides guidance and feedback on their progress. (Our army of volunteers has grown to almost 10,000!)

“Live Chat” Ministry/Training

One of the most exciting efforts in which Mike is currently involved is the “Live Chat” outreach. VIsitors from all over the world can simply click “Chat With Us!” to type lines back and forth interactively with Mike or one of the dozens of other Online Missionaries he’s working with to test and train in this outreach. This is a ministry in which we often see God work to change hearts before our eyes as we pray and share Christ with visitors.
